Sensi Colore
Sensi Colore is a gloss porcelain collection designed by Matteo Thun & Partners for Florim, where colour & texture become the primary architectural elements.
Each of the fifteen colours is drawn from the Italian landscape - developed with an undulating surface & gloss glaze that creates depth, shadow, and movement in light.
The collection exists in two forms: a flat field tile & the 'Onda' - a sculptural wave surface that catches light dimensionally.
Both are designed to work independently or be layered together, giving specifiers & homeowners a system as considered as the colours themselves.
Matteo Thun is one of Europe's most respected architects and designers - a co-founder of the Memphis Group, former professor of ceramics, & the mind behind some of the world's most considered hospitality spaces. His practice spans industrial design, interiors, hotels, and ceramics, united by a single philosophy: great design should feel natural, effortless, & enduring. Ceramics have been central to his work for decades. His collaboration with Florim reflects that, with earthy palettes, tactile surfaces, & a calm atmosphere that feels less designed than discovered.
Order any colour, any surface, free, delivered to your door so you can live with it in your light, before you decide anything.
Goethe called Italy a sensory geography - a land where everything is different: the sky, the air, the customs, the stone itself.
Sensi Colore begins there.
Each of the fifteen colours is drawn from a specific place in the Italian landscape: the bleached white limestone of Scala dei Turchi; the grey shores of the Aeolian Islands; the ivory stone of Matera; the gold fields of the Marche; the dense green valleys of the Apennines; the ink-dark waters off the Ligurian coast. These are not moods or references, they are the source.
Colour remembered from the earth itself, fired into porcelain.
The undulating gloss glaze was developed to hold light rather than reflect it, to shift with the hour rather than sit static against the wall. In the morning the surface reads one way, by afternoon it has changed. This is the quality that sets the collection apart from any decorative tile that relies on colour alone. The depth is structural, built into the surface itself through the combination of the irregular glaze and the gentle undulation beneath it. Whether you choose the flat tile or the Onda for dimension, you are choosing a surface that will continue to reveal itself long after the decision is made.
Florim has been producing porcelain in the ceramic district of Sassuolo, Italy, for over sixty years.
In 2020 they became the first ceramic manufacturer in the world to achieve B Corp certification.
The work behind this certification includes full recycling of production wastewater, complete recovery of production waste, & sustained investment in renewable energy & low-impact manufacturing.
Sensi Colore is the product of that kind of company - one where the standard applied to how a tile is made is as high as the standard applied to how it looks.
